If you really open your eyes – the truth is hidden in plain view. The Emirates try to tell the world the city was build by Sheikh Mohammed, the country hereditary ruler. It’s untrue fact. The people who really built the city are immigrants’, they are toiling all day at the top of the tallest buildings in the world, they build malls and roads, work at the fish and meat markets, they work at restaurants and hotels, they work as nannies. Absolutely everything is done by the migrant workers. They were often conned into coming, and trapped into staying. Emirates created a flawless system of exploitation, matchless to any other establishment in the world. Emirates completely control and preserve their establishment, they just observe and control the system, and they don’t work themself.
In their home country – Bangladesh or the Philippines or India – these workers are told they can earn a fortune in Dubai if they pay a large upfront fee. When they arrive, they are told their wages are much lower then the rate they were promised.
Human Rights Watch calls this system “slavery” and UAE is not the only country in the world that uses this system, it exist everywhere in one way or another. Dubai is just shiny example of it.
People become migrants because of certain conditions at home; wars, poverty, inability to find work.
In this situation for millions of people around the world even these “slavery” conditions is the only way to earn a living.
21st century began very turbulent for those effected by Human Right abuses. It is an obligation of the civilized world governments’ to come up with humane workable solution.
