I traveled to Ghana to document the work of FOCOS, an international relief organization whose humanitarian mission is to provide free medical care to underserved communities in Ghana, Ethiopia and Sierra Lion. FOCOS members work hard and long hours, and they do it entirely on volunteer basis, they consider it as a privilege to be part of this mission. Their compassion, perseverance and commitment are nothing less than inspirational. Working for a non-profit organization like FOCOS was an absolute revelation to me, it taught me the mining of genuine giving. Being a part of the team, made me grow as a human being and as a photographer.
In the end of 2009 I have published a book “High Spirit: Ghana” - it is a social documentary photo project dedicated to highlighting and exposing work of non-profit organization to a wider audience. This project is an appreciation of generosity to all American volunteers and international community who committed to change and enrich the quality of lives of thousands of children and their families around the world.
